Alaskan Halibut
Alaskan halibut is also referred to as Pacific Halibut. “Pacific halibut is the largest species of flatfish. It is native to the North Pacific Ocean, and it is fished by commercial, recreational, and subsistence fishermen.” Some Pacific halibut can grow up to eight feet in length and span over five feet in width.
Additionally, “Pacific halibut are not overfished and are fished at recommended levels that are set by the International Pacific Halibut Commission.” With their diamond-shaped bodies, they can weigh up to 500 lbs. They swim sideways, and their eyes are located on the upper side of their bodies.
