The Kenai River is a meltwater river, eventually draining the central Kenai Peninsula region. With its source being the Kenai Lake, the Kenai River is also an Alaskan glacier-fed river with its origin located in the Kenai Mountains.
As an 80-mile stream of unparalleled beauty and breathtaking scenery, the Kenai River offers fishers days of prosperous fishing. The Kenai River is also a heavily-visited river and is known as the most popular sport fishing body of water. In addition to being home to King (Chinook) salmon, the river is also home to wildlife such as moose, bears, and birds.
Did you also know that more world records have originated from the Kenai River than any other river in the world? Back in May of 1985, Les Anderson caught the all-tackle world record King Salmon, which was measured to be a 97-pound, 4-ounce fish from the Kenai River!
